“Money Smart” Virtual Classes

March 22, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

“Money Smart” Virtual Classes for Individuals 60 and Over!

The Quad-City Plus 60 Arts & Education committee finds it important to share relevant, informative opportunities for our membership that contribute to a more informed, secure lifestyle. Therefore, we want to share Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging’s Living & Learning presentation, “Money Smart,” for individuals 60 and over. The classes and the Resource Guide are free.

Money Smart is designed to educate older adults about various types of financial exploitation, including identity theft, charity/debt collection scams, fraud, and so forth. The course objectives include how to recognize and reduce the risk of elder financial exploitation, guard against identity theft, plan for possible loss of ability to manage personal finances, prepare financially for disaster, and find helpful resources for managing money and reporting financial exploitation.

Money Smart Mondays will be Mondays, March 22 through April 12, 1-2 pm. An introduction to the virtual platform will be included in the March 22nd class. The classes are delivered virtually to your internet-accessible desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. To register by the Friday, March 12 deadline contact Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging (Holly Brugman), 309-793-6800, hbrugman@wiaaa.org.
