Community Outreach Applications now being Accepted

The Quad-City Plus 60 Club will accept Community Outreach Grant Applications through Friday, October 27, 2023, from eligible nonprofit organizations for Fiscal Year 2024.

The Plus 60 Club has awarded over $300,000 during the past twenty years to various non-profit organizations throughout the Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities area that provide services or specific programs to those 55 and over. Proceeds from Plus 60 events fund its Community Outreach program.

Eligible applicants are any Quad-City non-profit organization or public government unit that seek funds for a Quad-City area program or project specifically benefiting those 55 years and older. The program or project must be completed between January 1 and December 31, 2024. Applications must be submitted by Friday, October 27, 2023. Applicants will be notified in November and the funding will be distributed in December, 2023, for FY 2024.

Be sure to also Click HERE to review and print the Community Outreach Guidelines applicable to your application. Complete your organization’s application and submit postmarked by mail no later than Friday, October 27, 2023 to: Plus 60 Community Outreach, PO Box 455, Bettendorf, IA 52722-0008. Or attach the completed application to an email with ”Community Outreach Application” in the subject line to qctimesplus60@gmail.com by the Friday, October 27th deadline. QC Plus 60 Club heads to western Caribbean for March 2-9 Cruise

A new adventure awaits Plus 60 Club members on Saturday March 2, 2024 as we sail with Celebrity Cruises on a 7-night cruise aboard the beautiful Celebrity Apex from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to ports of call at Key West, Belize City, Cozumel, and George Town Grand Cayman.  Our cruise tour includes roundtrip ground transportation between Davenport, Iowa and our gateway Chicago O’Hare airport for roundtrip airline flights to and from Fort Lauderdale for our one-week cruise.  We return to the Quad Cities on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

Celebrity Apex is a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Rated resort at sea. With an innovative outward-facing design and visionary spaces that stand apart from anything else at sea.  Celebrity cruises are well known for their delicious culinary experiences, fabulous live entertainment scheduled in its modern theatre, and stateroom infinite verandas.

Remember the cold and dampness of last winter’s weather?  This is your chance to relax for a week in a warmer environment, regardless of whether your idea of a break from the Midwest is embarking on optional shore excursions at popular ports of call or staying aboard the ship to enjoy the pool, lounge in comfortable deck seating, visit the spa, participate in social activities, or discover the pleasures of the Rooftop Garden.  Best of all, your Club’s travel committee has done all the planning and you only have to unpack your bag once during the trip!

After embarking at the port of Fort Lauderdale for the cruise we visit four ports of call: Key West Florida, Belize City, Cozumel Mexico, and George Town Grand Cayman in addition to two relaxing days at sea.

Interested in obtaining printed information and learning more details about the cruise?  Click HERE for cruise details, stateroom information, pricing, and the Registration Form for this one-week cruise.  Call or text John, the Club’s Travel Committee Chair, at 309-738-6826 if you have questions or need assistance with booking a reservation at the Club’s group rate.

Registration requiring a $500 credit card deposit per stateroom opens on Wednesday, September 20, and continues through Wednesday November 1.

Double occupancy staterooms ranging in cruise fares of $2,061.49 to $2,198.49 per person and a limited number of $3,164.49 cruise fare single occupancy staterooms have been allocated to the Club.  These cruise fares include Celebrity’s classic beverage package, ship gratuities, on-board Wi-Fi access, taxes and port fees.  All staterooms set aside for Club members on this cruise are exterior cabins with unobstructed view infinite verandas overlooking the sea.

The link to this tour’s details provides information on the additional tour costs per passenger not included in the cruise fare: the roundtrip Chicago/Fort Lauderdale economy class group airfare, roundtrip ground transportation transfers, the highly recommended travel protection insurance, and the various guided shore excursions available to passengers at each of the four ports of call.  Booked passengers are required to make their final balance due payment by Friday, December 1, 2023.

Elvis is on our mind this November for a fun day trip

Don’t be “All Shook Up” at this breaking news of our upcoming day trip to the Jacob Henry Mansion Estate on Thursday, November 16, for a delicious luncheon in the Victorian Ballroom followed by a Tribute to Elvis show performed live on stage by entertainer Logan Ramey with high energy, audience interaction, and respect for the legendary music career of Elvis Presley!

Logan is a performer that you are sure to love as he has gained the respect of fans and colleagues alike; including  Elvis Presley’s step-brother!  “Surrender” to your desire to join us for an authentic and heart-warming tribute to Elvis and his music.

After boarding Club members in Davenport (7:45am departure) and Moline (8:15am departure) on our chartered Tri-State Travel deluxe motorcoach, we will be on our way to Joliet in time for a 10:30am self-guided tour of the beautifully preserved Jacob Henry Mansion.  The main floor is most elaborate in carving and the black walnut and oak is hand rubbed to attain the satin finish.  Each room contains an ornately carved fireplace.  The Mansion, a 3-year building project completed in 1876, is claimed to be the largest and best example of Renaissance Revival architecture still standing in the state of Illinois.  The Mansion’s first floor is handicap accessible, but the optional second floor areas require visitors to use stairs.

It’s less than a block walk across the Mansion’s courtyard to the Victorian Hall, where we will be seated while our plated lunch is served at table.  Enjoy Bourbon Barbeque Grilled Chicken complemented by sides of Au Gratin potatoes and vegetables, as well as a fresh tossed garden salad, warm rolls, whipped butter, and included beverages of coffee, tea and water.  Of course, lunch wouldn’t be complete without a wedge of tasty pecan pie for dessert!  And perhaps you’ll be tempted to wander over to the cash bar to purchase spirits, wine, or a soft drink while engaging in conversation with friends and new acquaintances.

If you have any special dietary needs, including a vegetarian luncheon selection, please make a note of it to the Club when you submit your trip registration.

Logan Ramey’s performance begins following lunch.  By mid-afternoon our stay will conclude and we will be on our way back to the Quad Cities with an anticipated 5:15pm arrival in Moline and 5:45pm in Davenport.

The cost of the trip is $130 per person and includes all gratuities.  To register, Click Here to view and print the registration form.  Make your check payable to Quad City Plus 60 Club, and mail in an envelope addressed to Plus 60 Joliet Day Trip, PO Box 455, Bettendorf, IA 52722-0008.  Your registration will be confirmed by the Club replying with an email or mailing an acknowledgment to you.

Registrations must be postmarked by Tuesday, October 31, and are accepted up to a maximum of 48 passengers.  Upon confirmation, registrations are non-refundable unless the Club can substitute from members on a “wait list” to accommodate a registrant’s cancellation request.

If you have questions or need help with registration, text or call Connie at 563-528-2355 for assistance.
