Riverboat Twilight 2-Day Cruise

October 3, 2021 @ 7:45 am - October 4, 2021 @ 6:30 pm

Are you longing for some tranquility as you relax while viewing the scenic beauty of the Mississippi river for two fall days? Then, you’ll want to join us for the Quad City Plus 60 Club’s upcoming Sunday, October 3rd and Monday, October 4th river cruise on the Riverboat Twilight, which features overnight accommodations on shore at the Port of Dubuque’s riverfront Grand Harbor Resort. The Riverboat Twilight was designed to replicate the majestic steamboats of the Mark Twain era, and since 2006 has been proudly owned and operated by Captain Kevin Stier and his wife, Carrie.

You’ll begin your cruise on Sunday morning by driving to the free, well-lit, overnight parking lot located in front of the Riverboat Twilight’s river dock at 197 Front St., Le Claire, Iowa for boarding at 7:45 a.m. Plan to wear comfortable and casual clothes with sensible rubber-soled shoes for the cruise. The welcoming dock staff will check one piece of medium-sized luggage per person at the boarding point, and your luggage will be waiting for you in your room when you arrive in Dubuque! You are welcome to bring aboard a small carry-on bag, which should be limited to essential personal items, such as medicine, camera, binoculars, etc. There will be an expanded continental breakfast waiting for you when you board. Riverboat management assigns table seating only for meal hours during the cruise. At all other times indoor and outdoor seating is open to any passenger.

At 8 a.m. the Riverboat will depart Le Claire for its 83-mile cruise north on the Mississippi river through Lock & Dam #13 by Fulton, Illinois and Lock & Dam #12 in Bellevue, Iowa. Along the way you’ll hear a commentary from your Captain about the river and the communities along its shores. It’s a refreshing opportunity to put your feet up, observe barge traffic and locking operations, watch for wildlife and fall color, and enjoy the passage of time! Delicious meals are served in the comfortable air-conditioned interior of the Twilight in the parlor featuring ornate ceilings, stained glass, brass wall sconces and Victorian gingerbread trim. Complimentary coffee, hot tea, iced tea, lemonade and water are always available. Additional beverage options are available for purchase at the cash bar. Enjoy live entertainment, games, two snacks, lunch and dinner before arriving in historic Dubuque, Iowa. After resort check-in, the evening is yours to relax or join an optional ($25) Dubuque History 2-hour guided local tour at 6:30 p.m.

On Monday morning enjoy your included breakfast 6:30am until 9:00am at Tony Roma’s in the resort. You’ll have free time in the morning to either join an optional ($25) 3-hour guided tour at 7:30 a.m. to Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens & Eagle Point Park or you can use a complimentary shuttle to explore architecture and other nearby attractions, including paid admission to the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium before re-boarding Riverboat Twilight at 11 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. departure heading down river. Take in the passing views, perhaps hear the occasional strumming of a banjo, or reminisce when the onboard calliope bursts forth in a cascade of notes from a familiar tune of yesteryear. Lunch and dinner will be served at your table before you disembark at the trip’s conclusion in Le Claire at about 6:30 p.m.

Your roundtrip 2-day fall Mississippi river cruise fare for Club members and guests is $409/person for Double Occupancy (overnight standard room has 2 double beds) or $449/person for Single Occupancy and includes the 2-day cruise, on-board meals, overnight lodging and breakfast, entertainment, narration, complimentary shuttle service around the Port of Dubuque, and admission to the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. Gratuities and the $25 fares of the two optional land tours while in Dubuque are not included in the cruise fare. Cruise reservations with check or money-order payable to Quad City Plus 60 Club must be postmarked no later than Friday, August 20, 2021 and mailed to Plus 60 Fall Twilight Cruise, PO Box 455, Bettendorf, IA 52722 using the registration form, which can be viewed and printed by Clicking HERE.
