Die Walküre – The Opera
Your Plus 60 Club and Scott Community College are so proud to be able to invite you to join us for a very special Quad City Symphony Orchestra presentation with Music Director Mark Russell Smith at the helm. This lunch-while-learning program is going to be the hit of the season.
On Thursday, December 5, 2019 the Davenport Outing Club will be the venue for this unique opportunity to hear the music of the QCSO when Director Smith dives into the sounds and symbolism behind Richard Wagner’s epic opera, Die Walkure. This presentation precedes the QCSO’s performances of Act I of Die Walkure at the Adler Theatre on December 7th and 8th, so if you come, you will be one of the first people to hear this fabulous interpretation of the opera. This is a complex story based on Norse mythology where the Volsung twins, separated at birth, later meet and fall in love. This, of course, angered the gods, and it was demanded that one of the twins must die. You must come to find out if the twins, and their unborn child, will be saved.
As always, a wonderful (usually theme-related) lunch is included with the cost of $22.00. You can make your reservation by calling Scott Community College at (563) 441-4100. The time is from 11:30 – 2:00 P.M.
