EICC Learn With Lunch: Board Games!

July 16, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm

Are you a gamer??? Or a wannabee gamer? No, fortunately I do not mean the hand-held kind where you obliterate all kinds of death-defying machines and/or zombies and superheroes, but the fun old, and new-fashioned, board games.

If you ever thought this might be a great way to take a trip into the past, but even more so into the present, this seminar will give you a new appreciation for board games, and what they now bring to the table. Your Plus 60 Club and Scott Community College have arranged the perfect opportunity, just for you! You might be surprised, as I recently was, to realize how much your grandkids really like to play these types of games with you! It’s no longer a world where you just throw the die and move a few spaces… or buy a hotel.

This lunch and learn, AND the actual learning and playing of a really popular new board game, called Ticket to Ride, is being offered at the Outing Club on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. We will hear all about the trending popularity of board games from a master himself, Matt Endress, an instructor at Clinton Community College. We are told there is a big movement in the resurrection of board game interest all over the world! The Europeans joined the American players in the 1990’s when a whole new generation of game designers came together and invented some of the best new games ever! The Germans have jumped in, too. As a result, people of all ages are gathering to play these new board games that use fun, strategy and brainpower. The competition, with either friends or family, makes for an exciting way to spend an afternoon or evening. And, if you are interested, Matt will tell us where and when you can get involved with playing at Quad-City locations.

The cost of this unique event is just $22.00. This includes lunch (with delicious cinnamon rolls), and a little rivalry afterwards at the game tables! Think about bringing a grandchild and learn the game with him or her! The event starts at 11:30, and finishes about 2:00. Call Scott Community College at (563) 441-4100 to make your reservations. This lunch and learn is a little different from most, but one guaranteed to provide a lot of laughter, and good-natured fun!
