Riverboat Twilight

October 6, 2019 - October 7, 2019

Are you longing for some peace and tranquility as you relax while viewing the scenic beauty of the Mississippi river for two fall days with family and/or friends? Then, you’ll want to join us for the Quad City Plus 60 [55] Club’s upcoming Sunday, October 6th and Monday, October 7th river cruise on the Riverboat Twilight, which features overnight accommodations on shore at the Port of Dubuque’s riverfront Grand Harbor Resort. The Riverboat Twilight was designed to replicate the majestic steamboats of the Mark Twain era, and since 2006 has been proudly owned and operated by Captain Kevin Stier and his wife, Carrie.

You’ll begin your cruise on Sunday morning by driving to the free, well-lit, overnight parking lot located in front of the Riverboat Twilight’s river dock at 197 Front St., Le Claire, Iowa for boarding at 7:45 a.m. Plan to wear comfortable and casual clothes with sensible rubber-soled shoes for the cruise. The welcoming dock staff will check one piece of medium-sized luggage per person at the boarding point, and your luggage will be waiting for you in your room when you arrive in Dubuque! You are welcome to bring aboard a small carry-on bag, which should be limited to essential personal items, such as medicine, camera, binoculars, etc. There will be an expanded continental breakfast waiting for you when you board.

At 8 a.m. the boat will depart from the Le Claire dock for its 83-mile cruise north on the Mississippi river through Lock & Dam #13 in Fulton, Illinois and Lock & Dam #12 in Bellevue, Iowa. Along the way you’ll hear a wealth of interesting information from your Captain about the river and the communities along its shores. It’s a refreshing opportunity to put your feet up, observe barge traffic and locking operations, watch for wildlife and fall color, and enjoy the passage of time! Delicious meals are served in the comfortable air-conditioned interior of the Twilight in the parlor featuring ornate ceilings, stained glass, brass wall sconces and Victorian gingerbread trim. Complimentary coffee, hot tea, iced tea, lemonade and water are always available. Additional beverage options are available for purchase at the boat’s cash bar. Enjoy live entertainment, games, two snacks, lunch and dinner before arriving in historic Dubuque, Iowa. After resort check-in, the evening is yours to relax or independently explore the city.

Start your second day on Monday morning with breakfast at Tony Roma’s in the resort. You’ll have free time after breakfast to visit the National Mississippi River Museum or use a complimentary shuttle to explore other nearby attractions before re-boarding Riverboat Twilight at 11 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. departure. Take in the passing views, perhaps hear the occasional strumming of a banjo, or reminisce when the onboard calliope bursts forth in a cascade of notes from a familiar tune of yesteryear. Is there any better sound than the robust whistle of a cruising riverboat echoing off the bluffs of the mighty Mississippi river? Lunch and dinner will be served at your table before you disembark at the trip’s conclusion in Le Claire at about 7 p.m.

Your roundtrip 2-day fall Mississippi river cruise fare for Club members and guests is $399/person for Double Occupancy (overnight standard room has 2 double beds) or $439/person for Single Occupancy (a room with King size bed can be requested subject to availability), and includes all meals, overnight accommodation, entertainment, narration, complimentary shuttle service around the Port of Dubuque, and admission to the National Mississippi River Museum. Gratuity is not included and is left to passenger discretion.

Cruise reservations with check or money-order payable to Quad City Plus 60 Club must be postmarked no later than Friday, August 30, 2019 and mailed to Plus 60 Fall Twilight Cruise, PO Box 455, Bettendorf, IA 52722 using the registration form link here for your convenience.

Passengers with walking disabilities are welcome to sit on the first deck of the boat. Each deck offers the same views, experience, and ambiance. However, because main deck seating requires no stairs, it is the most convenient spot for passengers with mobility issues. Special dietary requests are also available for meals. Please call (309) 281-1917 and leave your phone number and a voice message for Plus 60 Board Member John Kustes to discuss disability accommodation concerns, special dietary requests or any unanswered trip questions before submitting your cruise reservation. Refunds and cancellations without penalty are available with advance notice on or before Wednesday, September 4, 2019. The full Terms and Conditions, as well as financial penalties applicable to cancellations after September 4th, will be provided in the registration confirmation sent to registering passengers. We look forward to seeing you aboard!
