The Lifelong Learner lunch features a presentation by Brian Allen, the Executive Director of the German American Heritage Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Beginning in the mid-1800s, scores of German immigrants crossed the Atlantic and then traveled up the Mississippi to settle on the West side of the river. This brought many Germans to the Quad Cities. Once they began to settle in the area, they made their indelible mark on architecture, business and society as a whole. Tracing German Roots in the Quad Cities follows their journey to the area, the impact they made once there, and the ways in which those German roots forever transformed the place we call home.
The $25 registration fee includes the plated lunch, program, and general admission to the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Avenue, Rock Island. There is convenient on-site free parking. Check in before lunch service begins on May 16, at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation to follow and conclude around 1:00 p.m.
