Hike on the Quad Cities Riverfront

Have our warm spring days inspired you to venture out for some healthy walks in the fresh air? How about joining us for a hiking opportunity on June 10 along the riverfronts of the Iowa and Illinois Quad Cities?
Join Club board member Connie Mangler, Plus 60 Club members, and the Black Hawk Hiking Club for a planned “ALL DAY” hike beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, June 10, 2023. Meet us at the Davenport city parking lot on East River Drive at the foot of either Perry Street or Pershing Avenue, which is located a couple of blocks west of the Arsenal bridge.
We will walk along the Iowa riverfront bike path from downtown Davenport into Bettendorf and then cross over the Mississippi River on the I-74 bridge pedestrian path into Moline for a lunch stop at the River House Bar & Grill, 1510 River Drive, Moline. The morning leg (Davenport to Moline) of the hike is a distance of approximately 5 miles and should take about 2 hours.
During lunch, we will have time to socialize and meet new friends while enjoying our individually ordered menu selections at personal expense. The River House menu offers a variety of delicious options including appetizers, burgers, salads, sandwiches, soups, and assorted beverages.
After lunch, we will head west on the Illinois riverfront path, into Rock Island. We will then cross the Arsenal bridge, and end up back at our Davenport parking area. The afternoon portion of the hike will be approximately another 5 miles.
If you prefer to participate in only the afternoon hike segment, plan to meet us at the River House at approximately Noon on Saturday for lunch and the afternoon hike. We can shuttle you back to your cars in Moline; assuming there are not too many participants that choose that option! If you are interested in this hike, please call or text Connie Mangler, at 563-528-2355 to let her know you will be joining the hike for the day or for just the afternoon option. We suggest that you wear good supportive hiking shoes, be in good physical condition and are currently active or used to hiking the anticipated distance. Remember to bring your own water for the hike.
