Hawaii: Land of Grass Skirts, Leis, and Volcanoes

Hawaii is not just about the incredibly blue Pacific that stretches for as many miles as your eye can see. It is also about the greenest greens, lush, tropical areas that surround you where ever you go, with all the colors in the rainbow reflected in the thousands of plants and flowers. It is also not just about the luaus, and the welcoming leis, and the hula and fire dancers. It is about the great history of our 50th state, from King Kamehameha, to the active volcanoes, to the culture and traditions that are still honored in everyday life on the islands. You will get to experience it all!

Come along with Tri-State Travel and your Plus 60 Club to an all-encompassing nine day trip to the true paradise which exists amongst these United States. The days of November 4 – 13, 2019 are the days scheduled for this tour. We will go by coach to Chicago and fly from there.

Some of the highlights of our trip include 3 nights at the Waikiki Hilton Garden Inn, 2 nights in Kona at the Royal Kona Resort, and 3 nights in Maui at the Royal Lahaina Resort. Several meals are included on this tour, among which are a real Hawaiian luau, and a three course dinner at the Royal Lahaina Resort as we watch the sun sink slowly into the ocean.

The sights we will see and the places we go are numerous and breath-taking. A few I will mention are the USS Arizona Memorial, a must-see for everyone in our generation, the USS Battleship Missouri, a tour of Honolulu, King Kamehameha’s Statue, panoramic views of Oahu, the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Volcanoes National Park, active volcanoes, tropical forests, and black sand beaches! You will have the opportunity to walk through an actual lava tube, see numerous waterfalls, learn about the seven ecological zones that exist on the islands, and in general, be awed by all the insight and information given to us by our tour guides.

Want to do a little shopping while you are here? A couple of really fun spots to stop and shop are found at the Kona Coffee Company and the Hawaiian Chocolate Factory. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the information and the samplings found here! You will learn all about coffee production, from seed to cup, and at the chocolate factory, from seed to bar! A final shopping excursion awaits you at Lahaina Town, an old whaling seaport lined with numerous shops, restaurants, and over 40 art galleries! If you don’t find that perfect souvenir, it is because your eyes were closed, and your husband had the credit card! Of course, in thinking it through, that might be a good thing!
