Grandparent Special – The Land of Forgotten Toys
December 14, 2019
Because there has been so much positive feedback from the trips we have offered with grandparents and grandchildren in mind, we have planned another one, sure to thrill and excite everyone. Come with us, and we assure you wonderful, lasting memories will be made. However, please note this is not just a trip planned with only children in mind – the Land of Forgotten Toys is for people of all ages! This beautifully orchestrated musical, held at the Green-house Theatre Center in Chicago, is going to be remembered for a long time, by one and all. The story has a wonderful moral that people and children of all ages will absorb and remember.
We meet Grace, a brilliant young woman with big dreams and a passion for astronomy. Age 18 now, and on her own, she feels as if she just doesn’t fit in anywhere anymore, and is floundering. She finds herself stuck in the family toy store three days before Christmas, wishing above all for a great adventure, far away from home. She, and a co-worker, Nikki, suddenly find themselves transported to another world, to the Land of the Forgotten Toys, where everything changes. Santa has been kidnapped and it is up to Grace and her rag-tag crew of modern misfits to find him! Along the way, in order to save Christmas, Grace and her friends meet up with the elves, the Abominable Snowmonster, eccentric toys, and Santa’s evil sister, Charlotta! In the end, Grace leads them all, including the misfit toys, in saving Santa. Along the way she finds that she, too, really does fit in, and her differences are what makes her special.
Come with Tri-State Travel and your Plus 60 Club on this wonderful adventure, on Saturday, December 14, 2019. The cost is $125 for adults, and $115 for children. The price difference is the cost of the show tickets. Departure can be from either Davenport or Moline. Along with the usual rest breaks at the Oasis, we will stop for a lunch break, on your own, before the show. There are many places to eat within a short walking distance, like Panera, Noodles, Chipotle, Dominoes, Portillo’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, and others. It won’t be a problem to find something you like. We will then re-board the coach for the short drive to the theatre.
