Figge Festive Holiday Globes Workshop

The pretty autumn colors and crisp, sunny, fall days let us know that another season is around the corner. Meanwhile, we accept the inevitable cooling temps, frosty mornings, and snow flurries, but we look forward to winter holiday festivities. Have you started to pull out the decorations and assess which ones you will use this year? What if you could add a personal inspiration to this year’s tree?

Acting on the suggestion of one of our previous workshop participants, Plus 60 has once again partnered with the Figge Art Museum to offer a hands-on workshop for the holidays. On Wednesday, November 17, from 1 to 3 pm, a Figge instructor will guide participants on how to create their holiday globes that can be proudly displayed on this year’s tree.

Liven up your tree with your imagination and this fun class. It’s time to make some special ornaments. We will be making a holiday globe and an ornamental ball for our trees or to give as gifts. Transform clear glass orbs into colorful and festive ornaments for your tree by mixing, swirling, and pouring paint. Bring old jewelry or family pictures that may work to personalize your creations. There will be lots of ideas. We will have special embellishments that you can add to your pieces. No expertise is needed, but make sure you are ready for the holiday fun.

If it fits your schedule, plan to take in lunch prior to class at the Figge Café featuring many tasty luncheon selections. The Figge Café is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 am to 2 pm. At the conclusion of the workshop, take the opportunity to wander the current Figge exhibits until closing at 5 pm. The exhibits are constantly changing and offering us a renewed experience included with this workshop.
