First Test: Rock Island Arsenal and the Spanish-American War

Presenter: S. Patrick Allie, Director, Rock Island Arsenal Museum

Following the sinking of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor, Cuba in February of 1898, the United States found itself at war with Spain. The newly completed Rock Island Arsenal was called on to support the war, the first major conflict it had ever responded to. Rock Island Arsenal Museum Director, Patrick Allie, will share the incredible history of the Arsenal during this war, and the ways it provided supplies, equipment and arms to the American warfighter.

Fee: $25 (Fee includes admission to the Botanical Center)
