A Northwoods Adventure

June 16, 2019 - June 20, 2019

How exciting does a Northwoods Adventure sound for an early summer get-away? You will definitely want to start thinking about this visit to Minnesota and Lake Superior, the largest fresh water lake in the world! Tri-State Travel is offering a 5 day trip to the area from June 16 – 20, 2019 that will totally amaze you.
Upon arriving in Duluth we will visit the Great Lakes Aquarium which features live animal displays, hands on exhibits, and an extremely knowledgeable staff of marine biologists. The second day we will take a city tour of Duluth where we will admire the fabulous views of the skyline and absorb the vastness of Lake Superior. We will board the North Shore Railroad and ride to Two Harbors. There a special included lunch awaits us at Superior Shores Resort. After lunch we will visit the Split Rock Lighthouse, one of Minnesota’s best known landmarks. You will be offered a glimpse of lighthouse life from 1910-1969. Upon our return to Duluth we will make a stop at Gooseberry Falls State Park to view the cascading waterfalls. On day three we will travel around Lake Superior and end up in Bayfield, WI. You will learn the history and hear tales about this greatest lake and beautiful area. This author went to Bayfield a couple of years ago and found it to be a beautiful and amazing place to visit. We will also visit the Apostle Island National Lakeshore Center, with time to take in all of the unique exhibits. Afterwards we will lunch at the Old Rittenhouse Inn. In the afternoon we will climb aboard a catamaran vessel to visit sea caves and more lighthouses. On day four we will visit the Wild Life Center and Preserve for an in depth view of the unique wildlife in the Northern Wiscon-sin area. Following lunch on your own, our next stop will be to the Northwoods of Minoequa, WI. That evening we will enjoy a family style dinner at Paul Bunyan’s Logging Camp where you will experience home cooked food, checkered tablecloths, and a warm and cozy atmosphere. We end the evening with a wonderful theatrical production at the Northern Lights Playhouse. On our way home the next day, we will visit Glacial Lakes Cranberries, Ltd., a business in operation since 1873. A docent will be available to guide you through the whole cranberry production process; afterwards a visit to their retail store is a must for sampling and purchasing some unique items.
The cost for this trip is $1159 pp. double. Other room sizes are available.
